New Coach/Player in Albershausen: Patrick Kenney!
AC: Hi Patrick! Welcome to Albershausen, you are going to support the team for the 2019 season. Our fans would like to know more about you! For what teams did you play before?
Patrick: Before playing for the Crusaders I played for Bryant University (Division 1-aa) in the state of Rhode Island. And last season I played for the Ljubljana Silverhawks of the Austrian Football League.
AC: In your football career, which was your favorite moment so far?
Patrick: My favorite moment was sophomore year of college when we upset one of the top ranked teams in the country. Our defense played great and held them to 6 points, and I was fortunate enough to get a sack in that game.
AC: How did you get the idea of playing football in Europe?
Patrick: I heard about football in Europe from one of my former high school teammates who was a couple years older than me. He played 3 years in France and told me how great it was so I was excited to travel to Europe and continue my football career.
AC: Why did you choose to play for the syNeo Albershausen Crusaders?
Patrick: I chose the Crusaders because I know the best american football in Europe is played in Germany so I really wanted to find a team in this country. And specifically the Crusaders because they really made me feel like apart of their family during our talks on the phone so I’m just excited to get over there and get to work.
AC: What are your goals for the 2019 season?
Patrick: My goals is to win the league championship and get the Crusaders back to GFL 2. Personally I want to help everyone from the youth teams up to the senior teams increase their knowledge of football so we are all better players by the end of the season.
AC: Is there anything you want to do for sure while being in Germany?
Patrick: While in Germany I’d love to explore the country a little bit because the only city I’ve been to before is Munich so I’d love to see more places. Also I definitely want to go to a Bundesliga game!
